Becoming a 2026 Small Business Awards Finalist
When I started Photography Full Stop, recognition wasn’t the goal. Like most small business owners, the focus was simple (at least in my head!). Build something sustainable, do good work, and keep improving.
So to now be shortlisted as a finalist in the 2026 UK Small Business Awards for Best Photography Services is something I’m genuinely proud of.
Not because it’s an “award” in itself, but because of what it represents.
The Reality Behind the Work
Over the past year, a lot of the work has happened quietly.
Early mornings editing. Long days on location. Evenings spent refining processes, updating the website, or reaching out to new businesses. There’s been a constant push to improve not just the photography, but the overall experience for clients.
And if I’m honest, there have been periods where it’s felt like nothing is landing. Sending emails and hearing nothing back. Trying new approaches and questioning whether they’re working.
That’s the reality of building something from the ground up.
Which is why moments like this matter more than they might appear from the outside.
More Than Just Photography
Photography, especially in a corporate or events setting, isn’t just about taking pictures.
It’s about:
helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera
working efficiently in environments where time is limited
understanding what a business actually needs from the images
and delivering something that represents them properly
That’s always been the focus behind Photography Full Stop, keeping things straightforward, professional, and tailored to each client.
Being recognised in this category suggests that approach is resonating.
The Clients Behind This
No business gets shortlisted for anything on its own.
Every shoot, every booking, every recommendation has contributed to this. Whether it’s a company updating their team headshots, an event organiser trusting me to capture a key moment, or a returning client coming back for another session as it all adds up.
A lot of this journey has been built on trust.
And that’s something I don’t take lightly.
What This Means Going Forward
This isn’t a finish line.
If anything, it’s a reminder to keep pushing standards higher. To continue refining the way I work, improving the experience for clients, and producing images that people actually want to use and share.
It also reinforces something important, that consistency matters. Not just in photography, but in how you show up, communicate, and deliver over time.
Looking Ahead
I’m looking forward to the awards and seeing how it all unfolds.
But regardless of the outcome, being shortlisted is already a milestone worth recognising. It’s a marker of progress, and a sign that the direction of the business is the right one.
If you’ve supported Photography Full Stop in any way, whether by booking, referring, or even just following along — thank you. It genuinely makes a difference.
And as always, there’s more to come.
